URS-WD at Savannah River has approved the preliminary design of a Power Fluidic sampler proposed by NuVision Engineering. The program will now continue to detailed design with a target date of the first quarter of 2009 for fabrication, commissioning and installation at site. The NuVision Engineering fluidic sampler has been selected by URS-WD as it will enable the site to take waste samples from tank 50 without having to turn off the current mixer pumps (thereby obtaining a more representative sample) and at a lower risk to workers because of less worker intervention. Greater representativeness of samples will also improve treatment operations through having a better-defined waste envelope.
