ARTISANTM Manipulator

NuVision Engineering's ARTISANTM manipulator system was developed specifically for the nuclear industry as a heavy-duty hydraulic manipulator and is ideally suited to the typically arduous decommissioning and size-reduction tasks encountered in this market.  It is regularly used to assist in such decommissioning tasks as volume reduction, waste retrieval operations and general nuclear processing.

ARTISANTM has an extensive record of successful applications where it has been used over a number of years, with ten different types of ARTISANTM manipulators alone accumulating over 100,000 hours of service in nuclear plants. This includes use in hot cells, equipment size-reduction, glovebox decommissioning facilities and carrying out waste retrieval from silos.  The reliability and availability of the arm is demonstrated by auditable field data showing that of the 108,402 hours recorded in operation, the availability of the arms has been 102,227 hours.  The downtime over this period has consisted of 2,343 hours for planned maintenance and 33 hours unplanned maintenance.

ARTISANTM has been designed as a robust and reliable workhorse, which can be easily and quickly maintained and operated by workers of all levels.  The system is extremely user friendly and staff can usually become proficient operators with just a few hours of training.  The design has been optimized over many years based on customer feedback and is strongly favored by both operators and maintainers of equipment.  It has achieved very high levels of availability even in the most demanding of applications.

RAPTOR®
NuVision Engineering's RAPTOR® series of telerobotic hydraulic manipulator systems have been specially designed for hazardous duty operations. They are currently supplied in two configurations: the RAPTOR® 150, which has a fully extended arm payload capacity of 150 pounds, and the RAPTOR® 300, which has a payload capacity of 300 pounds.

The RAPTOR® Series design incorporates a modular concept with common components to offer the customer ease of maintenance and reduced life cycle costs   As a result, its design can be readily upgraded and is very flexible. The image above shows a RAPTOR® 150 in service in Israel.

The RAPTOR® can be incorporated onto various unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) platforms for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Robotic Combat Support System (RCSS), and All-Purpose Robotic Transport System (ARTS) as well as other adaptive uses.

Why use the RAPTOR®?
Rugged design, extended reach, heavy duty lift and drag capability and general adaptability for use in any environment make the NuVision Engineering RAPTOR® Series Heavy Duty Robotic Manipulators the perfect choice for hazardous duty operations.
