MSIP at Salem Units 1 & 2

10/01/2007

NuVision Engineering has received a multimillion dollar order for application of mechanical stress improvement process (MSIP®) on the reactor pressure vessel at Salem Nuclear Generating Station Units 1 and 2 in Hancocks Bridge, NJ. This is the first reactor vessel nozzle mitigation award since 2002, when MSIP® was applied at VC Summer Nuclear Power Station.

MSIP® is a patented process invented, developed and first used by NuVision Engineering (then AEA Technology Engineering Services, Inc.) in 1986 for mitigating stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in nuclear plant piping weldments. MSIP® is a stress-related mitigation measure that produces a favorable stress pattern by removing tensile residual stresses and generating compressive residual stresses at weldments.

Work on this project will take place during fall 2008 and fall 2009 for each unit respectively.
